Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of Vericoo. By creating an account or scanning a QR card, you agree to them.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Vericoo (the "Service") you agree to these Terms of Service. They apply to all users — individuals, organisation administrators, and anyone who scans a QR code generated by the Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of service
Vericoo is a digital identity card platform for creating QR-coded identity cards that hold information such as medical details, emergency contacts, employment or membership records, insurance details, and event or ticket details. Cards are viewed by scanning their QR code. The Service is also available to organisations ("Entities") that issue and manage cards for their users, and it offers optional features including AI-generated first-responder summaries, multi-language display, PIN-protected sections, and event/ticket barcodes.
3. Account registration and security
You must register with a valid email and password, and you must be at least 13 (with parental consent if under 18). You are responsible for keeping your credentials — and any two-factor authentication (2FA) method or section PINs — confidential, and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.
4. Acceptable use
You must not: provide false or fraudulent card information; impersonate anyone; create cards for people without their knowledge or consent; attempt to access others' accounts or data; scrape or bulk-download data; introduce malware; overburden or impair the Service; or use it for illegal content.
5. Card data and accuracy
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information on your cards. Vericoo does not verify card data. Medical information is provided for informational purposes in emergencies and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment; first responders should use professional judgment and verify through clinical channels. Vericoo accepts no liability for decisions made based on information in a scanned card.
6. AI-generated summaries
When an issuing organisation enables it, the Service uses a third-party AI provider to generate a short "first-responder summary" from a card's medical fields, and may use AI to translate card content. AI-generated content may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. It is a convenience aid only, is not medical advice, and must not be solely relied upon in an emergency — always verify against the underlying card fields and appropriate clinical sources. Vericoo is not liable for actions taken in reliance on AI-generated summaries or translations. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is processed.
7. Insurance and PIN-protected sections
Certain sections (such as insurance details) may be locked behind a PIN set by the cardholder or organisation. You are responsible for sharing PINs appropriately. Insurance and policy details are provided for reference and do not constitute confirmation of coverage; verify cover directly with the insurer.
8. Privacy and data
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your data and is incorporated into these Terms. You retain ownership of the data you enter; you grant Vericoo a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display it solely to provide the Service.
9. Organisation administrators
If you administer an Entity, you additionally agree to: only issue cards to people who consent; ensure data entered on their behalf is accurate and authorised; maintain appropriate access controls (including 2FA where available); comply with applicable data-protection laws for your users' data; and promptly deactivate cards when a person is no longer associated with your organisation.
10. QR code scanning
Scanning a card does not require an account. By scanning, you acknowledge that the scan event is logged (date, time, IP address, approximate location, device) and shared with the cardholder, that you will use any information only for its intended purpose, and that you will not collect, aggregate, or store card information beyond what is necessary.
11. Intellectual property
The Vericoo platform — its design, code, trademarks, and content (excluding user-submitted card data) — is owned by Vericoo and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
12. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may suspend the Service for maintenance, security, or circumstances beyond our control. Because some use cases involve emergency access to medical information, we recommend keeping critical health information available in a non-digital backup (e.g. a printed card or medical-alert bracelet).
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vericoo and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service (including AI-generated content). Our total liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vericoo and its operators from claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service.
15. Termination
You may close your account at any time in settings; on deactivation, cards become inaccessible immediately and data is retained for 90 days for reactivation, then permanently deleted. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or where required by law, giving reasonable notice where possible.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms and will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the United States. (A specific state jurisdiction will be designated as the business's registration is finalised.)
